Halloween Events 2019

What an amazing October at our indoor playground. We had our annual pumpkin hunts again this year. They were a big hit as always. We had some visits from some old guests and also some new ones as well. Among returning visitors to our Halloween Events was Jack Skellington.

We also had a visit from Miguel for our Coco Party.

This year we also had a new guest, Vampirina .

In some the Halloween events we played bingo and some of them we did tattoos.

We read books. Vampirinia had a book about fall and we read a story about Coco.

Our favorite is acting out the story from Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack likes that too.

Sometimes we sing songs or do crafts.

The kids favorite thing is our annual pumpkin hunt where they pick up treasures hidden in pumpkins.

Coco Inspired Party Headband

At Imagine Play we often try to think of creative ways to add fun surprises to our special events and birthday parties. We love these Coco inspired party headband that we created for our Dia De Los Muertos party. This is a great party favor for your guests and it’s easier to make than you think.

Coco Inspired Party Headbands

Start by cutting out squares of tissues paper. They can be between 3×3 or 4×4 in length. They don’t need to be an extra square.

Cut the tissue paper into a round shape. Again, they don’t need to be a perfect circle.

Now fold each piece of tissue paper into fours so it looks like a butterfly.

Group each butterfly into groups of 4 or 5. You can do a larger group if you want fuller flowers.

Use some glue to glue the flower together or if you are low on time like us you can glue the tissue directly to the headband with hot glue, but be careful. Use three different colors for the most festival feel. You can do more colors too to make the headband feel more full.

We gave these headbands to girls, but also did the same technique to top hats for boys. With some facepainting, it was the perfect party favor!

Dia De Los Muertos Coco Style

We celebrated Dia De Los Muertos the best way we knew how by doing crafts, dancing and singing songs inspired by the movie COCO.

First, it was so much fun decorating for this event because of all the festive colors.

We also got in the festive spirit by painting our faces and dressing up as the characters from the movie. The kids got a choice to paint their faces too.

All the kids got headbands or hats decorated with tissue paper flowers.

We did crafts, lots of crafts, including making lanterns and frames. We asked people to bring a photo of their loved one or the kids could use photos we printed from the movie.

Afterwards, the kids were able to hang their frames on our ofrenda.

And then then the festivities began. We sang a song from the movie, the kids learned a latin dance and  we played a pass the guitar game.
